The Rosebank oil field is not compatible with a safe climate or liveable future. Together we can stop this project.
Last September, the previous UK government approved the development of the controversial Rosebank oil field. We believe that this decision is not just a disaster for the climate, and morally and economically wrong, but unlawful.
For decades, fossil fuels companies have gotten away with disclosing only the pollution caused by getting the oil and gas out the ground, while completely omitting the devastating harm from actually burning it.
Burning Rosebank's oil and gas would produce more CO2 than the 28 poorest countries do in a year. Claims that Rosebank is compatible with a safe climate don't add up - and we proved it in court.
This is a monumental victory in the fight for a liveable future for all. Thank you to all who have supported us, especially to the nearly 100,000 of you who supported the court case.
The government now has the chance to remake the decision after their oil & gas consultation concludes in the Spring. In the meantime, no oil or gas can be extracted from the field.
