Rosebank owner Equinor met with its shareholders to vote on the future direction of the company. So we also came together to demand that Equinor do the right thing and get out of oil & gas. Watch Lauren's powerful intervention here.
The Norwegian state-owned oil giant has spent millions greenwashing itself as a leader of the energy transition. But only a minuscule 0.15% of their energy production in 2023 was renewable. This isn’t a company committed to the energy transition - this is a fossil fuel company, committed to extracting as much oil and gas as they can for profit.
Instead of channeling their record-breaking profits into cheap renewable energy, they are doubling down on oil and gas production. Not only does Equinor want to open the disastrous Rosebank oil field, it is aggressively pursuing new oil and gas projects in Argentina, Canada and Brazil, including in vulnerable marine habitats.
Equinor Out campaigners from around the world went to Equinor’s AGM to expose the destruction they are wreaking on communities and ecosystems. Lauren MacDonald confronted the CEO of Equinor on behalf of the #StopRosebank campaign about their "inconceivable greed" (watch and share on Instagram, X and Facebook). People also gathered in Brazil, Argentina, Canada, London, Shetland, Aberdeen, Orkney, Edinburgh and Oslo to send a clear message to Norway: Get #EquinorOut of Oil & Gas.
While they roll in cash, the rest of the world burns. We won’t let them congratulate themselves and plan the further destruction of our planet.
